How to use ChatGPT for everyday tasks

Short, practical walkthroughs for the jobs people most often bring to ChatGPT. Each guide shows an example conversation, the steps that work, prompts you can copy and the limits to keep in mind.

Pick a task

Every guide follows the same pattern, so you can jump straight to the part you need. The prompt templates open in the free chat on this site, which runs GPT-6 Luna and needs no account.

Three habits that make every answer better

Whatever the task, these three habits do more for the quality of the answer than any clever wording.

  1. 1

Say who it is for and what it is for

A summary for your manager, a message to a landlord and a study note for yourself need different answers. One sentence about the reader and the purpose changes the whole reply.

  2. 2

Give it the material, not just the topic

Paste the text, the numbers, the job advert or your notes. ChatGPT works far better on real input than on a description of it, and it guesses less.

  3. 3

Treat the first answer as a draft

Reply with what to change: shorter, more formal, add an example, remove the second point. Two or three quick follow-ups usually beat one long, perfect prompt.

Before you rely on an answer

ChatGPT can sound sure and still be wrong. Check facts, numbers, prices and opening hours against a trusted source, and do not paste passwords, ID numbers or other private data into any chat.

The prompt guide explains the method behind these templates, and the glossary explains terms like token or context window.
